What exactly is the role of government?

For thousands of years mankind has had some form or another of government. We’ve experimented enough already. Today it should be clear to humanity what generally works and what doesn’t.

And don’t think the politicians don’t also already know what works and what doesn’t. They know too. There is a very wide spectrum on the planet of how people are governed, from the highly free to the highly captive. When you travel around the world you see it yourself you see it up close.

The histories of peoples have a lot to do with what sort of governments are in place across nations right now, but aside from all of that, we know that there is one basic human urge and that urge is towards freedom.

Some countries support this more than others but all understand the score. In order to attain, or maintain power, politicians promise many things to people.

The problem with this however is that in order to provide something to one group of people via the government mechanism, you have to take it away from another group of people.

That’s hardly fair for the people that produced whatever it is that is being taken from them (typically money in the form of taxes). It’s not like that…
