There are several scenes in the book Atlas Shrugged where the private owners of all the major industries disappear and abandon all of their businesses to the government to have and to run. The rich industrialists take nothing with them. They leave everything behind. Government eventually comes begging for them to return because it’s not the assets that are valuable, it’s the know how on how to run things. There’s a lesson in there. Government runs most things very poorly if not outright terribly. So your idea to nationalize or democratize banks sounds beautiful on paper (not really), but reality is the level and competence of government leadership at nearly all levels is the worst of the worst in most cases. And besides, who would be these angels to run things if you had your way.?
