How the Left uses language to not say what they mean.
The Liberal Left uses a number of tactics to try to persuade anyone who’ll listen that their take on things is always the correct, moral, and just one even though it usually is lacking logic, actual compassion, and usually even common sense.
One of the tactics the Left employs is positioning.
A perfect example of this happened after the UK democratically voted to leave the EU. After the results of the vote, the newly elected Mayor of London, Khan, said the following:
“It’s also crucial that we don’t demonize the 1.5 million people in London who voted for Brexit,” Khan said. “While I and millions of others disagreed with their decision, they took it for a variety of reasons and this shouldn’t be used to accuse them of being xenophobic or racist. We must respect their decision and work together now to get the best deal for London.”
Sounds gentlemanly and statesman-like. But look at that statement carefully.
He plants the exact words he wants used in the ongoing discourse (xenophobic and racist) no different than how an attorney might plant a word in the heads of jurors knowing that it’s going to be struck down anyway (but he successfully seeds the words in their heads).
