The incredible Al Wasl Dome at Expo 2020

I just came back from a week in Dubai where I attended the Expo2020 for two days. I decided to pull my kids out of high school for a week for their education and bring them to Dubai to see the city and the Expo.

Real world education in the field beats desks in a classroom any day. A week in Dubai, visiting dozens of country pavilions at the Expo, eating new foods, moving around the city, and exploring what Dubai has to offer was worth far more than those extra couple of days in school.

Heading over to Dubai I somewhat knew what I was in for because in 2010 I also attended the World Expo in Shanghai. Dubai did a phenomenal job with the event — six months long and over 190 countries putting their best foot forward to tell a story and showcase their best.

Some countries, such as Saudi Arabia (above) showcased a vision of the future for their country while others came in with a theme focused on one of three areas corresponding to the footprint of the portion of the Expo they were in, Mobility, Sustainability, and Opportunity.
